Cyprus Objective: The Blog of a French Expatriate Living in Cyprus Since August 2025

Moving to Cyprus is a dream for many: year-round sunshine, attractive taxation, and a Mediterranean quality of life… But a successful relocation to Cyprus requires careful preparation.

When I first arrived in Cyprus, I thought everything would be easy: the weather was perfect, taxation was attractive, and everyone spoke English. Three months later, I was still chasing an appointment for our Yellow Slip, and I had yet to discover the shortcuts and the right contacts.

Relocating to Cyprus can work very well—as long as you don’t prepare based on brochure clichés.

On Objectif Chypre, I share practical advice, first-hand experiences, and useful guides to help you make the move with confidence.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore the idea or are already ready to leave, you’ll find all the answers here.

Who am I?

My name is Yannick. Like many people, I spent years searching for a balance between quality of life, financial freedom, and an inspiring environment.

After nearly 15 years living and working in the Middle East, this pursuit naturally led me to explore expatriating to Cyprus.

At first, like you perhaps, I had dozens of questions:

  • Is Cyprus really tax-efficient?

  • Is it easy to settle there?

  • Can you live there year-round?

  • And above all… is it really worth it?

Spoiler: yes—but not just any way.

My Promise

I’m neither a dream seller nor a tax advisor.

For complex tax-structuring questions, you’ll need to consult a licensed Cypriot accountant or lawyer. What I can offer, however, is the perspective of someone who has completed the procedures, tested local banks, searched for accommodation to rent or buy, and can honestly tell you what was straightforward—and what turned into a real headache.

👉 My role is simple: to provide you with the most useful and honest information possible, so you can move forward with confidence in your project.

Why I Created Objectif Chypre

Before leaving, I came across two types of content:

English-language articles written by relocation firms selling their services—so hardly neutral—or French blogs presenting Cyprus as a postcard paradise, without ever mentioning the hassles, paperwork, or administrative delays. Objectif Chypre was born out of that frustration.

I quickly realized there was a problem:

👉 Most content about Cyprus is either:

  • Too superficial — the postcard version

  • Too technical and difficult to understand

  • Or simply… biased toward English-speaking audiences

So I created Objectif Chypre to offer the opposite:

✅ Clear, practical and useful information
✅ Realistic first-hand experiences
✅ An approach entirely focused on French-speaking expatriates

The goal is simple: 👉 to help you make the right decisions, avoid mistakes, and save valuable time.

My Approach: Freedom, Strategy, and Simplicity

I don’t see expatriation as simply choosing a destination.

I see it as a lever for transformation:

  • Legally optimize your tax situation

  • Improve your quality of life

  • Regain control of your time

  • Build a life more aligned with your goals

But be careful: 👉 Cyprus is not a magic solution.

It’s a powerful tool—provided you understand:

  • The tax rules

  • The administrative procedures

  • And the reality on the ground
